World Environment Day

The environment has always been a priority for the group of companies to which SOLŪ Hardwood belongs, and it increasingly influences our daily decisions and actions every year.

Wood is a noble material known for being renewable and biodegradable. Its high durability ensures that it can last for many years and can be refinished several times before replacement is necessary. Our products are 100% made and sourced from North America, where forest management adheres to strict standards and laws. It’s in our best interest to take care of our raw materials to ensure long-term sustainability. Additionally, according to a life cycle analysis conducted by the National Wood Flooring Association, the manufacturing of hardwood flooring is less polluting than the production of carpets or linoleum. Hardwood flooring is not only less energy-intensive but also produces minimal to no methane or nitrogen oxide emissions and requires far less water.

Furthermore, all our production waste finds a second life. Here are various examples:

  • Sawdust is transformed into eco-friendly logs and compressed particle boards.
  • Bark finds a second life in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Waste from our varnishing line is donated to the community for various personal projects.

Additionally, we have initiated an eco-declaration process, validated for our products according to the requirements of the new version of LEED V4 certification, in partnership with an independent specialized company. This means that our flooring can contribute to your LEED projects. Our floors are free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and to provide transparency to our customers, all other technical details of our products are compiled in a report available on our website.
